If
the Shoe Fits :: 08.01.01
A little anecdote:
One day, a person went into a shoe shop.
The person tried on many, many pairs of shoes, but none seemed
to fit quite right.
The next day, the same person went into
another shoe shop. The person tried on still more pairs of
shoes. None quite fit. Thus the person continued on for many,
many moons.
Finally, in disgust, the person had an idea!
‘I will give up this senseless trying
on of shoes! I will go the Shoemaker and have him make a pair
just for me!’
God is like that Shoemaker and we are so
often like the person trying on the shoes. We try on many,
many mates, in various different ways, but none of them quite
seem to fit. Finally, in disgust, we go to our heavenly
Shoemaker.
‘Shoemaker, You made all the shoes, and
You made me and my feet. Here is my phone number. I am for
right now going to busy myself in the work of Your kingdom,
even if I must do it barefoot. But when and if You see I need
to have the shoes for which I have been looking, give me call
and let me know.’
How true this is! It's true for me! Once I finally
sacrificed my heart's desires to God, a "shoe" fell
out of the sky. But the thing is that I tried many times to
give up my shoe shopping and I just couldn't do it on my own.
God had to work in my heart. If you find yourself shoe
shopping, I'd urge you to pray for God to change your heart's
desires. He wants us to focus on the work He has given us,
wherever we are. If you give yourself fully to the Lord's
work, if you make Him your desire, then He will give you a joy
and a peace that transends all understanding. Then, one day,
you might just be delighted to find a fellow worker in the
field right next to you.
Let Him do it. He's the Master Craftsman.
Just as He made Eve for Adam, He knows how
to make a shoe for your foot.
